May 2-4, Annual Old Town Cinco de Mayo
Old Town comes alive with a celebration of art, culture, and history of the 1800’s.  Live music stages, cantina beer gardens, low rider car show, children’s area, soccer competition, drink & food specials, and much more. Free event.

May 3, $100,000 Grand Prix of Del Mar
An evening filled with exciting competition! World class horses and riders will again set the bar very high as they vie for this prestigious title and hefty paycheck.

May 3-4 Escondido Renaissance Faire
The age of chivalry will be recreated among the wonders of nature in an idyllic setting.  Activities include several of Will Shakespeare’s new plays, battle pageants, music in the streets, jugglers and hundreds of costumed re-enactors performing in this giant outdoor play. There is an admission fee, which covers all entertainment.

May 3-4, San Diego Ho’ Olaue’a Festival
Observe a reenactment of the historical Hawaiian greeting from sea to shore, then enter an Island Village for entertainment, food, flowers, crafts, and more. Opportunity drawings and cultural workshops.  Free event.

May 4, Carlsbad Spring Village Faire
The largest one-day fair in California. Features hundreds of exhibitors with a little of everything such as arts & crafts, antiques, clothing, a large variety of food stands serving international foods, and children’s rides, and more.

May 8-11, Annual Gator by the Bay
Zydeco, Blues & Crawfish Festival. A family event featuring Zydeco and Cajun bands, Blues bands and Community Musical Groups performing on multiple stages. Enjoy Cajun and Creole food, cooking demonstrations, strolling entertainers, dance lessons, and more.

May 10, Annual Asian Cultural Festival of San Diego
The festival features various Asian cultures. Enjoy musical performances, costumed dancing, martial arts, cultural exhibits, games, and great food!

May 17, Annual Chula Vista Community Fun Run 5K
The Chula Vista Community Fun Run (5k) is intended for all levels of runners (or jog or walk), and allows strollers and families to participate in a fun and engaging environment. Some Olympic athletes will be present during the event to sign autographs and participate. 
Time:  Gates open at 6:30 am / Race starts at 8:00 am

May 17, Color Me Rad
This is a fun and exhilarating event that brings a lot of enjoyment and laughter. This is a 5K run where a rainbow of colors are bestowed upon you! As athletes run past color stations, they are whisked with a harmless cornstarch mixture of colors. At the finish, they will all feel gorgeously “RAD”. Admission: $30-$55

May 17, Annual North Park Festival of the Arts
An explosion of arts, culture and entertainment with live entertainment, arts & crafts booths, food court, beer garden ($$), Kid’s Art Block, and tons more stuff. Free event.

May 17-18, Annual Beach Soccer Championship Festival
The largest beach soccer event on the West Coast. The best youth and adult players from all over the world will be competing in a festival atmosphere.

May 18, Navy’s Original Bay Bridge Run
A rare opportunity with awesome views! Take a run/
walk across the Coronado Bay Bridge that begins in the Gaslamp Quarter and proceeds across the magnificent bay bridge, then onward to Coronado Island, ending in a festive celebration at Tidelands Park. 
Time:  8:00 am – 12:00 pm

May 18, La Mesa Village Antique Street Faire
Once a year, antique dealers from all over set out their wares in La Mesa. The event generally features 100 booths with genuine antiques and collectibles, plus appraisal and demo booths, and food. Reminiscent of an old fashioned Midwest flea market. Admission and parking is free.

May 18, Annual Sicilian Festival
Celebrate Sicilian-Italian American heritage and enjoy delicious cuisine from local restaurants in a festive setting in Little Italy. Music, beer, wine, and some interesting ethnic art & craft items to browse. Free event.

May 18, Escondido Street Faire
The second largest street fair in California will feature live entertainment as well as over 500 booths showcasing arts & crafts, unique clothing, and international foods and more.
Time:  9:30 am – 5:30 pm

May 26, EOD Warrior 5K
This event offers a 5K Run/Walk and a 1K Kids Run. After the event, an expo offers an awards ceremony with refreshments, a beer garden, raffles, and sports-related attire. Proceeds benefit the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Warrior Foundation. Admission: $25-$45 (5K Run/Walk) / $10 (Kids Run).
Time:  7:00 am – 1:00 pm

May 31-June 1, Santee Street Fair
 
Live bands, carnival rides, entertainment, food, vendor booths, craft beer festival. There will be more than 300 food & vendor booths, 3 stages of live music and entertainment, and fun rides. The festival is free and open to all-ages.
