The smallest of Africa’s small cats, they are endemic to the southern part of the continent and are classified as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, meaning they face a high risk of extinction in the wild.

Adult females weigh an average of three pounds (1.3 kilograms) while males weigh about four pounds (1.8 kilograms).
